Synoptic wins work with Tourism Australia

Established in 2004, Tourism Australia is a statutory authority of the Australian Government, which promotes Australia as a tourism destination internationally and domestically and delivers research and forecasts for the sector.

As part of an ongoing upgrade of core administrative processes and systems, Synoptic Consulting recently completed a BPI project to optimise selected Accounts Payable processes.

The approach used was;

- Firstly, to apply our BPI methodology to the current processes to establish the key metrices of processing times, elapsed times, processing costs, and Full Time Equivalent (FTE) requirements.

- Secondly, using these analysis results, we established and prioritised the major issues ('critiques') with the processes and their associated systems.

- Then, by methodically constructing a future mode process design, we eliminated these issues, thereby producing a high level Business Requirement.

- Finally, the production of a comparable set of metrics for the new processes and a comparison between old and new, allowed the establishment of a business case for change incorporating significant cost and service level improvements.

In all, 6 detailed business AP processes were re-designed within 5 days.

Tourism Australia are currently delivering on the Business Requirement, with benefits realisation objectives guided by the metrics produced.
